Many factors make our school exceptional, but what stands out most are the traditions we’ve established and memories we’ve made throughout the years. Since 1986, our goal has been to create a strong community of families that look forward to spending time with each other and participating in schoolwide events each year. It is a joy to watch parents, relatives, friends and neighbors take part in the activities that make our school unique! Here are just a few of the many events we host annually.
River Series
Every fall and spring, members of the Memphis community gather in our very own amphitheater for the River Series. This event was founded 10 years ago by an MMS parent as a fundraiser for the school – since then, it’s turned into a beloved musical showcase of artists from Memphis and beyond. Local businesses and restaurants partner to provide drinks and snacks for attendees. The best part is all proceeds benefit our school! It’s always a joy to welcome the community onto our campus to experience its magic – and MMS families always serve as great hosts!
Regatta
Our Regatta presents another opportunity for us to demonstrate the uniqueness of our outdoor environment. This year, we held our 21st Annual Regatta complete with a fun run for kids, a kayak scavenger hunt, rubber duck races, recycled boat races in the river and more. We even held a chalk art competition judged by three local artists! The Regatta is a great opportunity to get out in nature and enjoy the beautiful spring weather on campus.
Mardi Gras Parade
One of our guides attended MMS and had fond memories of the Mardi Gras Parade. The tradition was on hold for a few years, but with her willingness to bring back the beloved event, it returned two years ago! Students dress up, build parade floats and march through Harbor Town to show off their hard work. The day ends with a potluck in the school parking lot with hot cocoa and desserts.
