Many Montessori programs end after 8th grade, leaving parents wondering how to transition their child from Montessori education to another private or public school. Thankfully, students at Maria Montessori have historically had little to no problem adapting to new procedures and education types, smoothly transitioning into a typical high school track with overwhelming success.

Below is feedback from an 8th grade graduate, Max Dixon, who recently began attending White Station High School. His mother, Shannon, wanted to share this positive experience to represent the ease that MMS students experience when transitioning:

“I just got a delightful text from Max, and it occurred to me to share how seamless the transition from MMS to White Station has been for him. He recently received his first progress report, and he made all A’s and B’s (with three grades only one point off from an A, he made sure to note). He also received an ‘exceeds expectations’ in conduct and a comment from his German teacher that he has a good work ethic. This is no surprise to us as his parents, but I think it would be beneficial for MMS families to know how easy the transition was for him going from a 10-person class to one with more than 400 students, from two teachers to seven, and from private to public school. I replied back to his text and said, ’I am super proud of your hard work! You slam dunked that transition.’”
