Our location is much more than a Downtown Memphis address.

Situated in the heart of the Harbor Town community, Maria Montessori School is an integral part of a unique urban neighborhood, often hailed as one of the best examples of planned community in the United States. Our proximity to the Wolf and Mississippi Rivers offer opportunities for unique learning experience through outdoor education. A part of our outdoor area is the Maria Montessori School Amphitheater. Designed by Architecture, Inc. in 1992 and overlooking the Harbor Town Marina, our amphitheater is a spot for school gatherings, community events and performances, such as the renowned River Series.

Beyond our school’s picturesque location, our campus boasts numerous unique educational opportunities for students of all ages. Our gardens feature rotating seasonal plants, which are cared for and cultivated by our students under the supervision of volunteer professional gardeners. Students can also practice additional horticultural skills in our greenhouse. Our boardwalk along the Wolf River provides students the opportunity to explore this ever changing ecosystem, noting plants and animals that call it home. Beyond our outdoor educational amenities, students have access to outdoor play, ensuring that our campus features both urban and environmental learning and growth spaces.
